Kyle, woke up to the smell of wet dog. He hated that smell, it always reminded him of growing up in the king's kennel. He started to pull the blanket over his head, when we remembered that he didn't have a dog.

Patsy looked at the server farm with a mixture of admiration and fear.
The room looked like something out of a movie. Hundreds of server
clusters stood a few feet apart humming to themselves in semi darkness.
All that was needed to make it into a horror would be if they pumped in
some dry ice smoke to lay across the floor. Now she was in charge of
this place.

Marget hated putting on rented bowling shoes. The idea that someone else's
sweaty, smelly foot had been in there only hours before turned her
stomach. It made the whole experience of bowling just distasteful. She
had thought about buying her own set of course, but thought better of it
when she had seen the price. Since she only bowled once in awhile she
could never justify that, not when going bowling was supposed to be
a cheap date.

With more hesitation that he thought was necessary Mary put the coins on
the table. He did feel bad for her, but a deal was a deal. Besides, It
was not like he was taking her last pieces of gold.
"There you have it." she said "My last pieces of gold."
On second thought, maybe he was.

It didn't take long for Jack to realize that he was not where he had
been when he lay down to go to sleep. This place was nothing like the
cell he had been in for the last ten years of his life, this place as
actually warm.

As the door closed leaving them in total darkness James did a quick inventory in his head. Five people were in here with him two he knew, one was a friend of a friend, two others that he had seen at the Coffee shop just before they left, and the girl with really long finger nails who was holding his hand now.

It had taken thousands of years, but finally the Greek gods were dying. They were fading away, their power spent, the believers long since dead. Even so, killing one of them would never go over well. Mathew knew as he looked down on the broken a twisted body of this one, that his life was not going to get any easier.

Wednesday mornings were the worst. They always had a way of creeping up on you and biting you in the backside. Monday, you knew was coming and that it would suck. By Tuesday you had gotten over Monday and were digging in for the week, but somehow you always forgot about Wednesdays. Today was going to be no exception.

Pluto sat with his back turned to Eris, a dangerous thing to be sure, but since she was asleep he figured it was a risk he could take. He carefully opened her date book and thumbed to tomorrow's date. Just for once he wanted to know what kind of day he should plan for.

"What say you farmer John?"
That had been Nathan's his nick-name since he had arrived at the outpost almost a month ago now, and he hated it. Even though he had red hair and was from Kansas, he had never actually been on a farm. Well there was that one time when he was a kid but, going to the local dairy to get ice cream really could not count.
"Personally," Nathan replied "I think just because we are living in a post apocalyptic world, does not mean we should behave like a bunch of animals."

The wizened old man smiled at the young girl. She, in return, looked like she wanted nothing more than to crawl up her mothers legs.
"Today is your lucky day." He said.
